UPDATE: The Area Plan Commission heard our request and is making a public meeting for everyone to attend to voice their concerns on March 11, 2021. We provided them with a schematic of how the setbacks could look for a mere fraction of the proposed 3,000 acres and how it will directly affect our homeowners. We’ll put out more information about the meeting.
This Thursday, February 11, 21 at 6 pm at the Hovey House the Area Plan Commission will be meeting and allowing us as a community to voice our concerns.
The meeting would be to discuss the setbacks, the number of feet between the solar panel farm and residents’ homes. Unfortunately, they have denied our request for trees to be built as a barrier between the solar panels and our non-participating resident homes.
We also requested to amend the ordinance so that this is not a Tier 1 Industrial, or so that any large solar power company that comes into a county over 40 acres, will have to notify all residents that are neighboring the proposed plant with certified mail. And then there are two public hearings. It’s a lawful vetting system and holds true for any re-zoning requests.
