Posey County residents are in favor of SMART solar development. NOT using prime agricultural land currently being farmed and surrounding resident’s homes.
There is a current house bill 1381 that would TAKE AWAY LOCAL CONTROL for siting of wind turbines and solar fields. We must take action. Contact your elected state representative and inform them you OPPOSE this bill and you believe the local government should maintain control of these safety standards!
This is a proposed state law that would apply to everyone as of June 30, 2021.
It would make it so no County can make their own ordinance. Instead, it would be a STATEWIDE standard, which helps no one (well except for the big corporations). Setbacks for solar would only be 50’ from property lines and 150’ from dwellings.
Most people don’t follow the day-to-day actions of the legislature. Why should you? You have more important things to do. That is exactly what the wind and solar companies are counting on. There are a few simple things you can do, though, to keep this bill from becoming law:
