IMPORTANT READ: Meeting Minutes from Area Plan Commission 11/25/19

Posey County residents are in favor of SMART solar development. NOT using prime agricultural land currently being farmed and surrounding resident’s homes.

Marrs and Black township residents in Posey County keep asking: HOW did the solar ordinance change from a 1,000-foot setback (distance from solar panel to the property of non-participating neighbor) to only 100 feet?!

A special meeting was called that people weren’t aware of.
The full minutes are at the bottom of this page.

The minutes of the meeting where this huge reduction in setback happened say that the discussion is held about the solar ordinance was not about any particular project.  Now we find out there were 2500-3000 acres of farmland were being leased up and that’s what the solar ordinance would apply to unless it’s changed now.

Some commissioners have stated they were not even made aware of this industrial size solar project while they were voting on the ordinance. This is not ok!

So should we ask ourselves as tax-paying posey county residents:

  • Who has potential gains from this project?
  • Who is going to lose everything they have worked for?
  • Should certain people maybe step away from the vote?
  • Who is going to move away from the county?
  • Who is going to move to the county AFTER this project?

Here are the minutes that we had to request to have a copy. These are for public viewing, pay attention closely to what is highlighted in YELLOW pages 2 – 7 (as other things were discussed during this meeting.
